My fourth and final Pygmalion as a student is officially over and what a way to go out. The Krannert Center opened the festivities, with one of the UK’s most talked about groups, Daughter, kicking it off. They were joined by Head and the Heart, the Pacific-Northwest folk-rockers touring in support of their upcoming release Let’s Be Still. Check out pictures and reviews below. Stay tuned for the annual Pyggy Crown tomorrow!

Pygmalion Roundup: The 2012 Pyggy Crown
The best weekend of the year in Champaign-Urbana wrapped up Saturday night, and left bands like Grizzly Bear and Dirty Projectors marveling at the line-up founder Seth Fein was able to produce. We were there for it all, traveling between Krannert Art Museum, Canopy Club, downtown Urbana outside of Black Dog, and downtown Champaign behind the High Dive. So without further ado, here’s the fourth and final part of the four part ACITM Pygmalion Roundup. The second annual Pyggy Crown, awarding the best performers of the festival. We’re doing it bracket style this year. Enjoy, and let us know if you agree!

Week that Was: Pygmalion Edition
This week’s “Week that Was” is a special Pygmalion edition, featuring only artists performing at the 3 day festival this weekend in Champaign-Urbana. Although Sleigh Bells withdrew from the lineup due to a Derek Miller injury, local CU heroes HUM step in for a rare performance for the opening night’s main event on Thursday, September 27th at the Canopy Club. Grizzly Bear, Dirty Projectors, Best Coast, and Dinosaur Jr. are still scheduled to perform along with many, many more. The festival should be a blast, and tickets are still available here!
The post doubles as our top picks, so enjoy and let us know what you think!

Kids These Days rapper Vic Mensa going in on a Blended Babies/Chuck Inglish produced track. Video produced by the very talented Austin Vesely. If you’re in Champaign make sure to check out Kids These Days performing at Anniversary Plaza for Union Fest. 1401 Green St., expect the band to perform around 9:30 PM.
