They Came, They Played, But They Did Not Conquer- Spring Awakening 2012
DJs Skrillex, Afrojack, Carl Cox, Benny Bennassi and many others made their way to Soldier Field this past weekend for the 1st entirely electronic music festival in the city- Spring Awakening. I watched firsthand as Lollapalooza’s Perry stage has expanded from a small corner stage to a huge canopy-covered house music experience over the past few years, and there is no question in my mind that electronic music has become increasingly mainstream. Spring Awakening may have been the organizer’s response to the growing house music fad, yet still something was missing at the first of its kind music festival last weekend.

Spring Awakening Festival – Update
45 more days until Spring Awakening! Chicago’s festival scene will officially kick off in high gear June 16th, with Skrillex headlining Saturday night, and continue June 17th, with Afrojack closing it down. There are only a limited number of discounted two-day passes still available, so make sure to get your tickets here ASAP!
Spring Awakening Festival – Get Your Tickets Here!
Electronic music legends Benny Benassi, Afrojack, Wolfgang Gartner and the much loved/hated Skrillex will make their way to Chicago for a weekend of dance music on June 16th for The Spring Awakening Music Festival. The festival, taking place at the massive Soldier Field, will also feature Diplo and A-Trak- two dj’s that I especially can’t wait to see. Check back for a full preview of artists in a few weeks. The Badger Short Bus Invades Chicago
University of Wisconsin- Madison fans swarmed Chicago this past weekend for the UW vs. NIU football game at our hometown staple- Soldier Field.
As a proud UW alum myself, I pulled up to the game in style – on the infamous Badger Short Bus. Owned by five young gents, Paul O’Hara, Tom Davich, Dain Peer, Brian Snouffer and Tom Rohlf, the Badger Short Bus acts as a shuttle service to home and away Wisconsin football games. The arrival of the Badger Short Bus to the Soldier Field parking lot on Saturday signaled the start of a tailgating party hours before the start of the game. Badger fans of all ages, decked out in red attire, striped overalls and cow print threads, eagerly awaited kick off. Check out the video above for a taste of the Badger Short Bus Festivities.
