Monumental news from Jay-Z during half time of the Heat/Spurs Finals game: Jay’s long-time rumored new album will be released July 4th. The Samsung commercial announcing the album features producers Rick Rubin, Pharrell and Timbaland, Swizz Beats and others, all rumored to have had a part in the new record. The beat snippets sounded CRAZY. You can also hear Jay say “Turn that up Ye,” hopefully meaning Mr. West contributed to the album as well. Damn Jay, couldn’t let Ye enjoy his baby for at least a full day?! Also, there goes all the buzz around protege J.Cole’s Born Sinner.
These tracks are for the people that hate a certain type of genre or for people that hate every single song regardless of what it is. The people that wish the Beatles were still around and take every opportunity to tell you so. These songs are enjoyable for everyone; watch as the foot discreetly starts tapping along to the beat and notice how hours later the stuck in the 70’s music fan is still humming the song they heard in your car.
This week’s “Week that Was” featuring up and coming rappers and bands with a lot of buzz. Away from our lives for quite a while, WTW is back and geared to make you smile! Oh boy, I haven’t posted in a while. Corny rhymes will stop right there. Enjoy and let us know what you think!
While we’re all waiting for the full song to finally come out, at least we have this.
So many quotables here…
You don’t need MDMA for this music, because the music is so incredibly vivid… everything is just so synthetic, it doesn’t really… it’s just missing the gut
Music’s Super Bowl was last night, and the stars were out in full force. Thanks to a zero-tolerance policy for lip-syncing, all performances were required to be live, helping us decide who really has it. We took to Twitter to review this years Grammy awards. Take a look below, and let us know your thoughts from last night!
Katy Perry says “What Memo?” Ellen Degeneres says “Damnnnnnnnnn!”
Never been a big Odd Future guy, but Earl has always stood out. The track that dropped last night, “Chum,” only reinforces this. Check it out below, production by Pharrell. Download available as well.
I’ve been wanting to do this for months and I finally found the time to scientifically break down every single aspect of Mr. Kanye West’s music. Actually, after hearing Ye’s verse on “Birthday Song” I started to get sentimental about how far we’ve seen Chicago’s very own come. He was Common’s guy, Jay-Z’s guy, then blew up the hip hop world with College Dropout. From there we saw Late Registration, Graduation, a switch up with 808’s and Heartbreaks, one of the best rap albums of our generation in My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and the debut from hip hop mega powers Jay and Ye in Watch the Throne. He’s always maniacally dedicated himself to his own releases, and his genius has been responsible for G.O.O.D. Music taking over the game in recent months.
Without further ado, here are the 21 best songs that were not officially Kanye’s, that he ended up owning with a killer feature anyway. If you’re interested in downloading the feature, all 21 songs, head on over to our facebook page and be one of the first 50 to comment on the post. A surprise will then appear in your inbox (only if you already like our page!). Enjoy! Continue reading →
Oh MERCY, was it a week for music… (get it?) Check out the week that was below, and as always, send in tracks you want to see featured the next week, and comment to tell us what we missed. Enjoy!
