The 2014 Lolla lineup is here! Outkast has joins Eminem and Kings of Leon as headliners, Lorde will be back for the August fest after her recent sold-out show in Chicago, buzzed about bands Chvrches and Phantogram have made the list, and our Chicago favorite Chance the Rapper will make it home for the festival. For those of you not lucky enough to make it past the standby page yesterday to get 3-day passes to Lolla, single day passes go on sale at 10am today. What do you think of the lineup?
The #ASOSRocksVIP after-party at the Hard Rock Hotel was the place to be Friday night after Lollapalooza. With a line stretching down Michigan avenue and scheduled performances by Emeli Sandé and St. Lucia, those who managed a spot on the guest list for this intimate event were not ready for the long Lolla day to end just yet.
We couldn’t leave the guys hung out to dry after yesterday’s Ladies What to Wear post. For the past two years, we’ve brought you the top summer trends to rock during Chicago’s biggest music fest, and the guys edition is back once again as well. Luckily the weather seems like it’s going to comply, so follow the guidelines below and there’s a good chance you’ll make the Best Dressed list of a fashion blog or two ;). Let us know if there are any looks you think are an absolutely necessary addition.
Lollapalooza is all about the weekend as a whole, not just Grant Park part. Sure, 138 artists and groups on 7 stages will take over Grant Park August 2nd-4th, providing over 30 hours of music to over 300,000 people, but the fun doesn’t stop there. All weekend (starting Thursday August 1st), we have events picked out for you to make the best out of the experience. Why not spend Lolla like the VIP you see in the mirror?
After an exclusive advanced screening of Focus Feature’s “The World’s End,” Filter Magazine hosts a party to start a glorious and sure to be exhausting weekend at Logan Square Auditorium. Free drinks plus live sets by Smith Westerns and MNDR, the event starts at 9PM and is strictly 21+. Sponsored by PBR, do312, Fender, UBER, and more, be sure to give us a shout if you see us hanging out!
Lollapalooza – my favorite summer fashion show – hits Grant Park this weekend. For the past two years, we’ve brought you the top summer trends to rock during Chicago’s biggest music fest, and this year is no different. Follow the guidelines below and there’s a good chance you’ll make the Best Dressed list of a fashion blog or two 😉
My favorite post to write every year, and this year is no different. Many may be complaining that this year’s Grant Park lineup doesn’t compare to other major music festivals around the world, but those people aren’t looking hard enough. Last year I suggested catching Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, as they were destined for stardom (and boy has it hit hard, with a sold-out world tour approaching and 3 tracks in the Billboard Top 100), and Givers, who were up there for my favorite performance of 2012. So same drill… you will not find The Killers, Mumford & Sons, Phoenix, or even Kendrick Lamar and Chance the Rapper on this list. While I still highly recommend checking out all of those acts, here are the lesser known artists you can’t miss.
ACITM is BACK FROM THE DEAD to bring you Chance’s “Everybody’s Something.” Been in the works for a little while now, with Austin and Chance posting a teaser a couple weeks ago. Check it out below. Chance plays the BMI Stage at Lollapalooza at 6:50 Friday. Be sure to show up and give the hometown kid some love.
Get ready for a bunch of Lolla coverage coming this week as well!
Kendrick Lamar kicks off his new tour with fellow TDE Black Hippy members ScHoolboy Q, Jay Rock, and Ab Soul, tonight in Las Vegas at The Cosmopolitan and concludes on June 26th in Arizona, and unfortunately there is NO Chicago stop. At least we have Kendrick at Lolla.
BUT WAIT. There’s a remix in this promo video and UOENO it!
The promo video comes with a Black Hippy remix of U.O.E.N.O., featuring a Schoolboy reference to Rick Ross’s infamous “molly” line and Ab Soul taking “the game by storm just to X-Men out.” It’s not the Kendrick/Yeezus rumored track, but this just might be better. Full tour dates after the jump. Enjoy!
