Lollapalooza: What to do outside of Grant Park

Lollapalooza is all about the weekend as a whole, not just Grant Park part. Sure, 138 artists and groups on 7 stages will take over Grant Park August 2nd-4th, providing over 30 hours of music to over 300,000 people, but the fun doesn’t stop there. All weekend (starting Thursday August 1st), we have events picked out for you to make the best out of the experience. Why not spend Lolla like the VIP you see in the mirror?

Thursday

After an exclusive advanced screening of Focus Feature’s “The World’s End,” Filter Magazine  hosts a party to start a glorious and sure to be exhausting weekend at Logan Square Auditorium. Free drinks plus live sets by Smith Westerns and MNDR, the event starts at 9PM and is strictly 21+. Sponsored by PBR, do312, Fender, UBER, and more, be sure to give us a shout if you see us hanging out!

We missed last week but we’re back with a bang, featuring double the amount of songs we’d normally give you. You have a lot of listening to do, so stop reading and get to it! I couldn’t decide who to make the overall feature artist, so Autre Ne Veut, Veronica Falls, and Cities Aviv get the joint honors. Enjoy!

Welcome to the new golden era of rap everyone. Two of my favorite rappers get together on “Enter the Void,” featuring production by Lee Bannon. Joey and Soulo sound good together. Check it out below, but first, turn your speakers way up.

J. Cole “Miss America”

Thank you Cole! In light of the 1 year anniversary of the release of Friday Night Lights, J.Cole drops “Miss America.” The track is the first single from his upcoming album Born Sinner, set to release January 28. I’m feelin’ it. Thoughts?

One of my favorite rappers, Gemstones, makes a vicious return to the scene with this one. Elephant in the Room set to drop soon. Check out the remix of Adele’s hit below.

Kendrick Lamar “The Jig is Up” (Produced by J.Cole & Canei Finch) [Download]

I thought their collaboration was never going to see the light of day, but I now have hopes again. Maybe this is sign of good things to come…  Check it out below. Cole has been on a mean streak production wise lately, thoughts?
