Chvrches at the Metro

Fresh off of a sold out performance at Lincoln Hall the night before, Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook, and Martin Doherty, who make up the Scottish band Chvrches, performed at a sold out Metro Wednesday night. If you’ve been an ACITM follower, you know we are absolutely crazy about these guys. The band played most of their much anticipated debut album, The Bones of What You Believe, which is set to release on September 24.

Check out photos from the show below, and hit the jump for a mini review/setlist of the performance.

Emeli Sandé @ Lincoln Hall 1/22

Emeli Sandé, the 25-year-old talented artist from London, played Tuesday to a sold out Lincoln Hall crowd. Sandé is already a huge artist in the UK, performing in both the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2012 Olympics, and selling more copies of her album Our Version of Events than any other artist in 2012 in the UK. With honest lyrics, a gospel-infused sound and a pure vocal range, Sandé wowed her audience Tuesday night. If you haven’t listened to this girl yet, make sure you find her on Spotify ASAP. Sleeper Agent and Ben Kweller @ Lincoln Hall (3/31)

I’ve been waiting for a chance to catch Sleeper Agent live since last July, and this weekend the dates will finally work out. I first discovered the band reading Spin Magazine, who featured them in their “Breaking Out” segment. The 6 piece band from Bowling Green originally came together after guitarist Tony Smith and drummer Justin Wilson found barista turned singer Alex Kandel performing at open mic’s. They’ll be in Chicago Saturday night in support of Ben Kweller, who recently released a new album titled Go Fly a Kite, at Lincoln Hall at 10 PM. Tickets are sold out, so check out Craigslist if you weren’t lucky enough to get one.

The Temper Trap/Empires @ Lincoln Hall (Pictures & Review)

When you have someone that flew in from Hawaii just to see a band standing to your left, and someone visiting from San Francisco there for the same reason to your right, you know you’re in for something special. That was the case Saturday at the sold out Lincoln Hall, where the Temper Trap was in town for the second straight night.

Gold Motel & Deserters @ Lincoln Hall December 23rd (PICS)

Lincoln Hall guests were given an early Christmas treat Friday with performances by three Chicago-bred bands: Chaperone, Deserters and Gold Motel. As long-time fans of the Hush Sound (Michael and I attended a secret Hush Sound show at the Beat Kitchen over three years ago and even got posters autographed by the band), we were ready on Friday to be graced by Greta’s on-stage presence once more.

Can’t Miss Show! Gold Motel @ Lincoln Hall December 23rd

Is there anything better to do the day before Christmas Eve than see a concert? The answer is no, and luckily, Greta Morgan (my secret celebrity crush all the way from her Hush Sound days) and company bring Gold Motel to Chicago on December 23rd. With Chaperone (a Black Lips-esque band) and the Deserters filling out the bill, it should be a good one. Purchase your tickets over at Lincoln Hall’s website, and check out below for a video and more!
