Our friends over at Gold Motel want your help! In one of the coolest band promotions in some time (maybe ever?), the band will use your submitted Instagram photos in their album artwork. With Instagram coming to Droid yesterday, now everyone can get involved. And yes, their actual album artwork…and you can submit as many photos as you want! Check out the rules below, and a conversation with guitarist Eric Hehr about the contest.
The weather’s getting warmer, the days are getting longer… music fest season is upon us. SXSW Music and Media Conference and Festival kicks off on Tuesday with acts performing in dozens of venues throughout Austin, Texas.

Lincoln Hall guests were given an early Christmas treat Friday with performances by three Chicago-bred bands: Chaperone, Deserters and Gold Motel. As long-time fans of the Hush Sound (Michael and I attended a secret Hush Sound show at the Beat Kitchen over three years ago and even got posters autographed by the band), we were ready on Friday to be graced by Greta’s on-stage presence once more.

Is there anything better to do the day before Christmas Eve than see a concert? The answer is no, and luckily, Greta Morgan (my secret celebrity crush all the way from her Hush Sound days) and company bring Gold Motel to Chicago on December 23rd. With Chaperone (a Black Lips-esque band) and the Deserters filling out the bill, it should be a good one. Purchase your tickets over at Lincoln Hall’s website, and check out below for a video and more!
Welcome to the best weekend of the summer… Well, at least a preview of it. In a little less than 48 hours, some of music’s most popular acts (such as Eminem, Coldplay, Foo Fighters, My Morning Jacket) will grace the Grant Park stages and treat more than 100,000 fans a day to nights they will never forget. Obviously you’ll be there. There’s a lot of time before 8 pm though, and a lot of talent. Check these bands out!
