Ontario native Alex Flemming, aka Black Atlass, first burst onto the scene about 11 months ago with his masterpiece The Black Atlass EP. Featuring 6 songs spanning roughly 18 minutes, Flemming displays his production versatility with a mix of sample heavy bangers and synth laid piano wails that will upset you when you learn he’s most likely younger than you. That’s right, the EP was released when he was just 17. Take a listen (and then download) the whole EP below.
This is a massive post. 2 parts. Mentally prepare yourself. We’ve picked out essential songs for every single situation you will find yourself in this summer. Guaranteed. Whether you’re: gearing up for a party, crusin’ down Lake Shore Drive, on the beach with friends, driving with people who only like The Beatles and hate everything else, rolling with the OG’s who miss 90’s music, hanging with the homies or trying to impress the ladies, itching for a chance to display your dance moves, or returning home alone after a great Chicago summer night, ACITM has got you covered. A comprehensive Spotify playlist is available at the bottom. Enjoy and feel free to add on!
The Classics
These are the songs you can get away with playing whenever, wherever during the summer season. Anyone can be at your party or in your car, and they will generally be ok with the tracks. The “I miss the golden era of music” people will even be satisfied.
This track is reportedly one that didn’t make Channel Orange, so nothing completely new. Great track regardless, with the guitar driven background setting the moon as Frank swoons over a higher power watching over him. Check it out below and let us know what you think.

Music’s Super Bowl was last night, and the stars were out in full force. Thanks to a zero-tolerance policy for lip-syncing, all performances were required to be live, helping us decide who really has it. We took to Twitter to review this years Grammy awards. Frank Ocean releases his contribution to the “Django Unchained” soundtrack, which unfortunately didn’t make the cut. Frank said “django was ill without it,” when he posted the song, with Quentin Tarantino adding “Frank Ocean wrote a fantastic ballad that was truly lovely and poetic in every way, there just wasn’t a scene for it. I could have thrown it in quickly just to have it, but that’s not why he wrote it and not his intention.”

I’d be lying if I said AlunaGeorge wasn’t my favorite group currently making music. Yes, they probably surpassed The xx for the time being. Here’s their new track, “Watching Over You,” from the Annie Mac Presents 2012 compilation that dropped October 8th. I’d recommend buying/downloading (I don’t judge) that, featuring songs from Drake, Azealia Banks, M83, TNGHT, Jessie Ware, Diplo, Hot Chip, Nas, Frank Ocean, and A$AP Rocky, with many of them remixed.
Check out the new video for one of my favorites from Channel Orange, “Pyramids.” Awesome visuals from Nabil as we see the actor playing Frank making his way through strip clubs and the desert after taking shots of absinth. Even John Mayer makes a cameo with a solo towards the end. What do you think of the video? Let us know below!
