Flux Pavilion is coming to the US for his Freeway Tour, and just off the 57, he’ll be stopping at the Canopy Club Wednesday night. He’s one of the biggest DJ’s in the UK and has been earning that position here in the US, performing at festivals around the country and selling out venues all around. Tickets are still available! Get them here ASAP, don’t miss out!
The Save Money army/crew/militia/better yet a navy stopped in Champaign last Thursday, December 6, 2012, bringing along Mickey Factz, Kid Daytona, The Boy Illinois, and Frank Leone among others with them. Check out some of our favorite pictures from the #savechampaign event after the jump.
Following an opening slot at the Kids These Days show last week, Kami de Chukwu, Joey Purps, and Preston San hit the Canopy Club in Champaign Thursday night. The best weekend of the year in Champaign-Urbana wrapped up Saturday night, and left bands like Grizzly Bear and Dirty Projectors marveling at the line-up founder Seth Fein was able to produce. We were there for it all, traveling between Krannert Art Museum, Canopy Club, downtown Urbana outside of Black Dog, and downtown Champaign behind the High Dive. So without further ado, here’s the second part of the four part ACITM Pygmalion Roundup (the Pyggy crown will be the finale coming this Wednesday), highlighting Friday’s shows in downtown Urbana and Canopy.

This week’s “Week that Was” is a special Pygmalion edition, featuring only artists performing at the 3 day festival this weekend in Champaign-Urbana. Although Sleigh Bells withdrew from the lineup due to a Derek Miller injury, local CU heroes HUM step in for a rare performance for the opening night’s main event on Thursday, September 27th at the Canopy Club. Grizzly Bear, Dirty Projectors, Best Coast, and Dinosaur Jr. are still scheduled to perform along with many, many more. The festival should be a blast, and tickets are still available here!
The post doubles as our top picks, so enjoy and let us know what you think!

Rusko stopped by the Canopy Club last Sunday night, and all you need to know is…you should probably check this guy out live.
Rusko hits the sold-out Canopy Club this Sunday night as part of his College Tour, an event Champaign-Urbana is talking more about than the upcoming Unofficial.
What a wonderful, exhausting, awesome 5 days. It was my first of I hope many Pygmalion Festivals, and I was treated to a great lineup, enthusiastic crowds, weird hipster dancing, and a photo pass (pictures are here if you don’t want to read show reviews). Texas’s own, Explosions in the Sky, headlined the first night, with the rest of the festival boasting acts such as Cut Copy, Toro y Moi, Washed Out, MiMOSA, and the Hood Internet among others.
Who would win the 2011 Piggy Crown?
Somewhere the "Lollie" Award winners are wishing they could be involved in this contest
