Lollapalooza: What to do outside of Grant Park
Lollapalooza is all about the weekend as a whole, not just Grant Park part. Sure, 138 artists and groups on 7 stages will take over Grant Park August 2nd-4th, providing over 30 hours of music to over 300,000 people, but the fun doesn’t stop there. After an exclusive advanced screening of Focus Feature’s “The World’s End,” Filter Magazine hosts a party to start a glorious and sure to be exhausting weekend at Logan Square Auditorium. Following an opening slot at the Kids These Days show last week, Kami de Chukwu, Joey Purps, and Preston San hit the Canopy Club in Champaign Thursday night. The Save Money Army brings along The Kid Daytona, Mickey Factz, The Boy Illinois, and Frank Leone along with them, with doors opening at 10:30.

Week that Was: Pygmalion Edition
This week’s “Week that Was” is a special Pygmalion edition, featuring only artists performing at the 3 day festival this weekend in Champaign-Urbana. Although Sleigh Bells withdrew from the lineup due to a Derek Miller injury, local CU heroes HUM step in for a rare performance for the opening night’s main event on Thursday, September 27th at the Canopy Club. Grizzly Bear, Dirty Projectors, Best Coast, and Dinosaur Jr. are still scheduled to perform along with many, many more. The festival should be a blast, and tickets are still available here!
