Monumental news from Jay-Z during half time of the Heat/Spurs Finals game: Jay’s long-time rumored new album will be released July 4th. The Samsung commercial announcing the album features producers Rick Rubin, Pharrell and Timbaland, Swizz Beats and others, all rumored to have had a part in the new record. The beat snippets sounded CRAZY. You can also hear Jay say “Turn that up Ye,” hopefully meaning Mr. West contributed to the album as well. Damn Jay, couldn’t let Ye enjoy his baby for at least a full day?! Also, there goes all the buzz around protege J.Cole’s Born Sinner.
It’s happening people. Yeezus has leaked and the internet is going crazy. Seriously, the internet is going crazy. Ontario native Alex Flemming, aka Black Atlass, first burst onto the scene about 11 months ago with his masterpiece The Black Atlass EP. Featuring 6 songs spanning roughly 18 minutes, Flemming displays his production versatility with a mix of sample heavy bangers and synth laid piano wails that will upset you when you learn he’s most likely younger than you. That’s right, the EP was released when he was just 17. Take a listen (and then download) the whole EP below.
On a beautiful Chicago day following a beautiful Blackhawks win, we bring you the “Week that Was.” Featuring a ton of young talent and some groovy dance tracks, the tracks are perfect for some background work music or some riding around town music. Enjoy and let us know what you think! Australian band San Cisco kicks it off with “Awkward” and 16 year old soon-to-be-rap phenom Bishop Nehru follows with “Fickle Mind$.”
Yup, I’m still playing this song on repeat. Stuck in my head since the first clip at Coachella, Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky,” released on the duos masterful Random Access Memories, has seen numerous covers and remixes since the day it officially dropped. My favorite song in quite some time, I figured it’s only right we pay some more appreciation to it. The track is still number 1 on the international Spotify charts and number 2 on the iTunes ones. Almost 2 months since the CDQ version came onto the interwebs, the best reproductions have had more than enough time to stand out. Top 5 covers and top 5 remixes after the jump. In case you forgot the original… here it is.
WARNING: THE FILM CONTAINS FLASHING LIGHTS WHICH MAY NOT BE SUITABLE FOR THOSE NOT READY TO TURN UP.

The latest drop from ScHoolboy Q’s upcoming Oxymoron features a verse from Kendrick Lamar, which he starts off by rapping in spanish. You read it right, better than your favorite rapper en español! The hook is great on this one and features a groovy Q ripping through 2 verses, setting the stage for what could be the release of the year. Check out “Collared Greens” below!
Our summer playlist keeps growing. Here’s the latest from Chicago’s very own Mano: a remix of Beyonce’s smooth classic “Party.” Grab a drink and a dude (or a lady) and jam to this new song. We like it. Do you?
