Brazen Detroit rapper Danny Brown will team up with New York producer Baauer for a string of dates this April dubbed “The Worst of Both Worlds” around their respective appearances at this year’s Coachella Festival. Baauer, the man behind the current Billboard number 1 hit “Harlem Shake”, has turned the party up across the world with his hip-hop influenced take on dance music. Fool’s Gold artist Danny has been hard at work finishing up Old, his follow-up to, XXX, the lauded 2011 record that help land him on the covers of XXL, The Fader and Wax Poetics, along with a coast-to-coast fall tour that had him performing along with fell 2012 standouts A$AP Rocky and Schoolboy Q. “The Worst of Both Worlds” kicks off April 9th in Houston, and runs through both weekends of Coachella.
More hip-hop than you usually see on the “Week that Was,” thanks to some strong features from Chance the Rapper, Action Bronson, and Kendrick Lamar. AlunaGeorge keeps cranking out awesome tracks, really setting themselves apart from the rest of the music world. I am dying to see that duo live. Make sure to check out more of Hundred Waters and Ghost Loft if you get some time, the remixes here don’t completely do the bands justice. Expect big things from them. Keep sending new music! We really appreciate it, and love hearing new things. Enjoy!
Looking for something to do this weekend? Kick it college-style at the Mid on Saturday night with Diplo. The man who founded record label Mad Decent and made the hashtag #expressyourself go viral, Diplo has also created some very impressive remixes- Usher’s “Climax” is among them.
A-Trak released the video to the “Piss Test” remix featuring Juicy J, Jim Jones, El-P, Flatbush Zombies, and Flosstradamus today. Directed by Shomi Patwary, the video features all the guys partying, partying, taking drugs, and partying hard. Patwary has directed videos for A$AP Rocky, Diplo, Wale, and more. Check it out below and let us know what you think.
After being absent from the outside world for about a year and a half, Good Ratio Music presents their new release from Little Big Orchestra, who is debuting a project named Experiment 626. It contains a bunch of mysterious sounds clashing with deep, dark sequences, which makes this creation different than the usually offered tones of GRM.
The music unlocks a very intimate side of the artist, songs made by broken beats, pitched voices and profound themes that will take the listener to another universe. The contrasting fragile and strong metallic tones makes it a unique and special piece.
New Yeah Yeah Yeahs… featuring a 20-person gospel choir. The first single from the bands upcoming album Mosquito, “Sacrilege” sounds great, mixing in the classic feel of Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” with a touch of Karen O’s love crossed whispers. When asked about the new album, Karen said, “We would love for this music to make our fans feel something, for it to stir some shit up inside of them, whatever that may be… So much feeling went into this record, it was the rope ladder thrown down into the ditch for us to climb up and dust ourselves off.” Well, do you feel something?
