The best weekend of the year is FOUR days away. On Friday, Grant Park will be transformed into a giant music venue as fans and artists will fly in from all over the world for Lollapalooza. With over 160,000 people estimated to be in attendance, there are bound to be some serious people watching opportunities. As you’re creating your custom Lolla schedules and RSVP-ing to the best Lolla after-parties this week, we’re here to help make sure you also look your best this weekend both at the fest and at the after-parties (in case you run into Frank Ocean at Buckingham Fountain on Saturday night).

Week that Was (7-19-12 to 7-25-12)

The homie Michael Dejaneiro dropped the video for “SummertimeChi” today, and it’s right on cue considering all the senseless violence happening around Chicago lately. Make sure to check out the video below, but more so make sure to listen to the lyrics. #inrodwelust. New music from Kids These Days (their new album is going to be insane), Crystal Castles, sbtrkt, and others round out the rest of the Week that Was, which features 11 songs for the first time ever. As always, keep sending us music! 4/10 songs featured today were either user or artist submitted. Enjoy and spread the word!

Week that Was (7-12-12 to 7-18-12)

The xx announced their second album, Coexist, this week, and it is due for release on September 11th, 2012 via Young Turks. Joey Bada$$ and Chance the Rapper are performing at the Bottom Lounge Friday night, for only $20 with tickets still available. Passion Pit has canceled six of its upcoming tour dates, as singer Michael Angelakos has said to “ensure that there will be no further disruptions, I am going to take the time to work on improving my mental health.” There’s the roundup of news from the week that was, and here are the tracks! Enjoy! Keep sending stuff our way.

Week that Was (7-6-12 to 7-11-12)

As we prepare for Pitchfork 2012, the weather has finally given Chicago a break and it is finally bearable to stand outside for longer than 43 seconds. Enjoy the music from this week, let us know what we missed, what you’d like to see more of, or just if you liked any of the tracks! We’re doing it big… 11 tracks for the first time ever.

Spring Awakening 2012 – A Video

Although Spring Awakening was a disappointment as a whole, the festival had its notable moments. Check out my video of the highlights below!

Week that Was (6-28-12 to 7-5-12)

We’re a day late on this one, but hopefully everyones 4th celebrations were amazing. The summer has been bringing out banger after banger, and this week was no different with my current favorite song “New God Flow” dropping by Chicago’s very own Kanye. That’s the stuff you definitely heard… but as for what you should also be listening to…

Wavefront 2012 Wrap Up (Pictures + Video)

Arguably the party of the summer tore through Montrose Beach this weekend as part of the inaugural Wavefront Beachside Music Festival. World renowned names such as Duck Sauce, Boys Noize, Erick Morillo, and Eric Prydz graced the stage and took the Chicago crowd weaving through blistering techno, crunchy electro, and classic Chicago house tracks. Armed with disposable cameras and a cell phone, I attended both days and was blown away.

Pictures and more after the jump!
