A few weeks ago, we sat down with Chicago native Angela Morano, couture headwear designer and the girl behind HATS by Angela Morano. One of acityinthemidwest’s goals for 2012 is to introduce a style section to the blog, and Angela’s interview is the perfect way to kick it off. Talented and ambitious, Angela Morano is a name to remember within the Chicago style scene. Check out the interview below where Angela discusses her hats, her favorite Chicago spots and the fashion trends she wishes would finally die.

The DJ duo of Rick Carrico and Derek Berry, also know as Team Bayside High, took the stage last Friday night at the Metro for the Moombahton Massacre. Check out after the jump for a bunch of pics and a little blurb about how much their Moombah made the room (bah?) shake.
When you leave a music venue with your ears ringing from hours of incredible music, your heart pulsating from excitement, and your mind tantalized with flashbacks of a band’s stage presence- you know you have just seen a good show. Both Daniel Ellsworth & the Great Lakes and Filligar delivered on all these accounts and more at the Subterranean this past Friday.

It’s Monday- you know what that means? Time to solidify your weekend plans to have something to look forward to while you tackle your work/school week. Our top pick of the weekend is the Filligar show with openers Daniel Ellsworth & The Great Lakes and Save the Clocktower at the Subterranean Friday night (January 13th). Filligar’s sound can be classified as rock with a touch of Folk. Their shows are a true art, sending energy through the crowd with rousing vocals and melodies guaranteed to be trapped in your head for weeks to come. You can buy tickets here!
The guys may all be in their early 20s but they are veterans to the music scene. They have already written and recorded eight albums and have made an incredibly favorable impression on their fans thanks to the music they create and the down to earth attitude they live by (Filligar is one of Michael’s favorite bands for this reason).
