With free Hennessy flowing, cold water balloons flying, and dope DJs spinning, the Fool’s Gold Great Chicago BBQ presented by Hennessy V.S.O.P. and @superfun was the place to be Saturday afternoon.

We promised we would bring you a new video each week that would leave you speechless. This week’s pick, created by Next Level Pictures, can be described in one word: stunning.
On the side of a brick wall supporting the underpass around Milwaukee and Leavitt, there is a spray-painted dinosaur on a cotton-candy pink and light plum purple background with the words “FIND ART” scrawled beneath it. Interpreting these words as a challenge, we set out to uncover art on the streets of Chicago. (MaB)

Starting today, every Thursday we will hit the site with a video we find either particularly:
…or all of the above. The videos won’t always be music videos, but to start this off, I give you Bon Iver’s “Holocene.”
After Mudapalooza wrapped up late Sunday night with the Foo Fighters delivering a magical performance of “Everlong,” thoughts turned to something far more important than a live show. Musicians make music for the hope of one day earning a medal of their own. Fans wish they did something outrageous enough to earn them a spot amongst the stars. What we’re talking about folks, is a Lollie.
The Lollies are a special award show… something that only comes once a year, and delivers winners with satisfaction that they finally “made” it in the world. Now who can earn a Lollie? Anyone within festival grounds (primarily bands, but if a fan were to truly deserve one, Lollie voters keep track of everything). Who are the Lollie voters? Me, and only me. The Red Hot Chili Peppers were victorious in ’06, winning the Lollie for Most Energetic Performance. The Killers, winners in ’09 for Most Surprising Performance, were shocked to receive such a high honor. And who could forget Albert Klimek, taking home the Biggest Trooper Lollie last year for charging the fence and breaking his arm. Without further ado, here are the 2011 champions.

The 20th Anniversary of Lollapalooza culminated last night with a mind-blowing Foo Fighters performance, an ankle-deep mud bath and a Grant Park polluted with beer cans following a weekend of impressive performances from a range of artists. Two of the best performances of the weekend belonged to two very different bands: One, a Grammy Award-winning, legendary rock band, and the other, an up-and-coming Chicago band with barely legal teens and a style unmatched.

Welcome to the best weekend of the summer… Well, at least a preview of it. In a little less than 48 hours, some of music’s most popular acts (such as Eminem, Coldplay, Foo Fighters, My Morning Jacket) will grace the Grant Park stages and treat more than 100,000 fans a day to nights they will never forget. Obviously you’ll be there. There’s a lot of time before 8 pm though, and a lot of talent. Check these bands out!
