The early contender for the song of the summer sees Miguel (who I admittedly slept on in the 2012 Album’s of the Yearpost) teaming up with Mariah Carey, in her first single off her upcoming album. The video drops on American Idol tonight. Never thought I’d have a Mariah Carey song on here, but I promise it’s good.
While posts have been at a premium lately here at ACITM, we always have love for Chicago’s very own, Chance the Rapper. The wait is over, Acid Rap is here and available for download below. Should the link crash, alternate DL links will be up fast.
We’re really excited about this project and couldn’t be happier for what’s in store for Mr. Bennett. This is a big moment in Chicago hip hop, with the nation going crazy over this kid. Sky is the limit. Enjoy!
Austin Vesely and Hannibal Buress linked up to create the visuals for Chance the Rapper’s latest #AcidRap single, “NaNa.” They received 5K from Jash, the web based YouTube comedy channel, to create a video. They ended up spending it on a chicken costume, lunch with Childish Gambino, and a couple of fly red and blue suits. Check it out below and enjoy! April 30th!
ACITM where you at? MIA for a bit, traveling everywhere from Miami, Austin, France, Dublin, and Valencia. Back with the music video for A$AP Rocky’s Skrillex produced banger “Wild for the Night.” The video features the boys spending time in the Dominican Republic, riding mini motor cycles through the streets, walking around with strapped 8 year olds as protection, and playing the track for the DR crowd in a small venue, a size neither have seen probably in years. Awesome video, wonder what the budget was on this one. Watch below!
Chance the Rapper drops the latest single from Acid Rap, with video included, called “Good Ass Intro.” A soulful mixed house-bounce euphoric, proclaiming Chance is back “Even better than the last time.” We’re counting down the days for this thing to release. Listen and watch below, enjoy!
Brazen Detroit rapper Danny Brown will team up with New York producer Baauer for a string of dates this April dubbed “The Worst of Both Worlds” around their respective appearances at this year’s Coachella Festival. Baauer, the man behind the current Billboard number 1 hit ”Harlem Shake”, has turned the party up across the world with his hip-hop influenced take on dance music. Fool’s Gold artist Danny has been hard at work finishing up Old, his follow-up to, XXX, the lauded 2011 record that help land him on the covers of XXL, The Fader and Wax Poetics, along with a coast-to-coast fall tour that had him performing along with fell 2012 standouts A$AP Rocky and Schoolboy Q. “The Worst of Both Worlds” kicks off April 9th in Houston, and runs through both weekends of Coachella.
Ever since catching him with Trey Songz on the OOVOO Chapter 5 World Tour, I can’t get enough of Miguel. His Grammy performance only strengthened my belief that this guy is destined to be the future of r&b. He released the video to “Candles in the Sun” today. A bit different than his hit “Adorn,” the song steps away from “love song” and is a more introspective piece looking at the world at large. Here’s what he had to say about it… “It’s so easy to ignore what’s right in front of us sometimes… I wanted to create a song and visual that addressed my everyday concerns of life as I know it in the world that we live in.”
Check out the latest Maximum Hedrum video, “Synthesize.” The video features footage from the Girl Films and Chocolate Cinema skateboarding film Pretty Sweet directed by Spike Jonze, Ty Evans, and Cory Weincheque. Maximum Hedrum is a unique electronic-funk hybrid featuring Sam Spiegel, the vocals of Derrick Green from the seminal heavy metal band Sepultura, and German musician and producer Harold Faltermeyer. Enjoy and let us know what you think.
Chance the Rapper drops the visuals for his latest video, #JUICE. Produced by Austin Vesely. Everything these dudes touch is gold. The savemoney movement is real if you were still doubting it. Press play below and enjoy! IGH!
