Pygmalion Roundup: Tennis, Lord Huron, Best Coast, Dirty Projectors (Review/Pictures)

The best weekend of the year in Champaign-Urbana wrapped up Saturday night, and left bands like Grizzly Bear and Dirty Projectors marveling at the line-up founder Seth Fein was able to produce. We were there for it all, traveling between Krannert Art Museum, Canopy Club, downtown Urbana outside of Black Dog, and downtown Champaign behind the High Dive. So without further ado, here’s the second part of the four part ACITM Pygmalion Roundup (the Pyggy crown will be the finale coming this Wednesday), highlighting Friday’s shows in downtown Urbana and Canopy.

Click here for Part 1 featuring Night Beds, Santah, and HUM.

The O’My’s @ Do-Division Street Fest

One of our Chicago favorites performed Friday night just as the sun was setting at the Do-Division Street Fest. The O’My’s, a self-proclaimed “band of scoundrels and hooligans holding down Rock’n'Soul for the windy city,” gathered a large crowd and had the audience dancing and swaying side to side. Big things ahead for these guys. Check out a photo gallery below.

The Soundset 2012 Wrap Up in 3 parts: Those who came (a general overview of the festival and the performers), those who saw (the people, the fans, the ones that nearly every artist said made the festival), and those who conquered (the very best of the best).

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes @ The Riviera

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes created a psychedelic folk rock love fest for the sold out and sweaty Riviera Theatre Thursday night. Led by pseudo messiah and lead vocalist Alex Ebert, the band produced an almost spiritual invigoration of music and sound for fans under the Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes trance.

Asher Roth & the Cool Kids take Chicago (PICS)

The night before he dropped his brand new mixtape “Pabst & Jazz,” Asher Roth took the stage at a sold out Reggie’s Rock Club with several of his good friends there to back him. Former G.O.O.D. music rapper GLC, Boldy James, and a solo Mikey Rocks of the Cool Kids were among the openers. Check out after the jump for a set of PICTURES and a review!

Symmetry Live: The Naked and Famous @ The W-Lakeshore (Photos)

Attendees of the W Hotel’s Symmetry Live event in Chicago Tuesday night were graced with the relaxed rhythms of The Naked and Famous, the impeccable style of well-dressed Chicagoans and a beautiful night fit for an outdoor party compliments of Mother Nature.

Fluorescent lights lit up the Symmetry Live stage and the Navy Pier Ferris Wheel sparkled in the distance as guests mingled with one another sipping complementary cocktails. Most Chicagoans in attendance were decked out in sharp style- men in classic, pinstripe suits and women in trendy fur vests.

Pygmalion 2011 Photo Roundup

Shout out to Danger Village for hooking it up with a press pass for the Pygmalion 2011 Music Festival. It was the first festival I ever shot, and the rush of photographers pushing each other around to get the best angle in a cramped 2 foot wide pit area was fantastic. No that is not sarcasm. It was actually really fun. Check out some of my photos below, and the rest, here on the ACITM flickr account. That’s right here on the flickr. Right here. So feel free to click here and go to the flickr. Here.
